DRIVE CARE PROGRAMME:
Strict criteria for acceptance on this programme applies. Please make a referral and we will assess eligibility. Note that sending a referral does not guarantee entry to this programme.

RESTRICED /FULL DRIVERS LICENSE TRAINING
|
|
Intakes for those seeking to gain their Restricted and Full Drivers License are ongoing and open for referral unless indicated that spaces are full. We also highlight that by making a referral does not guarantee your entry or acceptance onto a course. Wait lists may apply depending on demand and all referrals must go through a review process before being accepted.
Includes FREE Driving Lessons and Test Fees
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Not in employment, training or school (mainstream). Alternative Education Providers are eligible
Acceptance of all referrals are subject to assessment of the online referral.
Participants must sign a Consent Form and Terms and Conditions before lessons commence.
WINZ REFERRAL: ALL WINZ referrals must be sent by the WINZ Case Manager through the WINZ SORT referral process. Note that we presently service Huntly and Ngaruawahia areas only for WINZ referrals in accordance with our funder arrangements. WINZ referrals outside these areas will be automatically declined.
ORANGA TAMARIKI REFERRALS: Presently we are accepting Oranga Tamariki referrals on a fee for service basis due to funding limitations. Please contact Ted Jarvis on 021635031 to discuss any OT referrals.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMMES
DRIVERS LICENSE PROGRAMME – LEARNER’S LICENSE (South Auckland, West Auckland, North Waikato)
About the Programme:
- 2-3 day training programme learning the road code (or less days if you pass earlier)
- Facilitated in groups
- Includes sitting the Learner’s License Test
Referral Criteria:
- 16+ years (no upper age group)
- Reside in Auckland, Pukekohe and surrounding area, North Waikato
- Must complete an online referral form
- Acceptance of referral is subject to a pre-screening process
- Referral maybe via self-referral, family/whanau, friend, community organisation or Government agency
Location:
Programmes are delivered in South Auckland (Pukekohe), West Auckland (variable) and North Waikato (Huntly).
You will be required to make your own way to the training facility daily to attend the programme.

Time: 9am to 2:30pm daily
Cost:
- Free
- Includes cost of sitting the Learner’s License Test (excluding re-sit if required)
- Includes free photo ID if required to gain your licence.
- Please note that some charges may apply to Government agency referrals
RESTRICTED AND FULL DRIVERS LICENSE (South Auckland, West Auckland and North Waikato only)
About the Programme:
- Free Driving lessons to gain your Restricted or Full Drivers License with a Professional Driving Instructor.
- Free test sitting fees
- Accessibility criteria apply
- Participants must sign a consent form and terms and conditions to participate
- Fees may apply for Oranga Tamariki referrals
- Wait lists may apply depending on demand
Referral Criteria:
- Age Critieria: 16 years + (no upper limit)
- Must hold a Learner's license for at least 4 months before commencing the training programme, and must be a valid license and not have restrictions imposed by Police that prevent you to be able to participate in lessons, e.g., be a forbidden driver.
- Reside in Auckland
- Not currently be in employment or training
- Must complete an online referral form
- Referral maybe via self-referral, family/whanau, friend, community organisation or Government agency
Location:
Nominated pick up points in Pukekohe, Huntly and Ngaruawahia. At the end of lessons, all participants will also be dropped back at the same location.
All participants must wait outside the premises to wait for the Driving Instructor to meet you for the lesson.
You will be required to make your own way to the training facility daily to attend the programme.
We provide automatic driver instructor vehicles that are dual controlled under professional instruction. No manual vehicles are available and we do not allow training in the client's own vehicle for safey and compliance reasons.
A face mask may be requested to be worn if we believe you are unwell or during Autumn and Winter months for health and safety.
Lesson Times: Length of lessons are 1-hour in length, between Monday - Friday and specific time slots will be available to choose from and this slot is maintained weekly until you pass your licence. We require you to commit to the same day/time each week when joining our programme so please ensure you can commit to weekly lessons. Note that we apply a strict attendance policy and will discharge you if you are unreliable or do not communicate with us about why you cannot attend a lesson.
Slot 1: 8:45 am - 9.45 am
Slot 2: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Slot 3: 11.15am - 12:15 pm
Slot 4: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Slot 5: 2:15 pm - 3.15 pm
Slot 6: 3.30 pm - 4.30pm
Session times may vary from time to time, and slots available is subject to availability at the time of referral.
Please note, no weekend times are available.

ONE DAY DRIVER HAZARD & CAR MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME
About the Programme:
One day training programme that includes:
- Driver Hazard Training and Safety Awareness (Group Facilitated)
- Car Maintenance and Vehicle Safety (Practical Hands-on) - learn how to maintain your own car and become more aware of what to look for when your vehicle needs attention to stay safe.
Referral Criteria:
- Age Critieria: 16 + years (no upper limit)
- Reside in Auckland
- Must complete an online referral form
- Referral maybe via self-referral, family/whanau, friend, community organisation or Government agency
Location:
This Programme is mobile and therefore venue will vary. Please enquire for further information.
You will be required to make your own way to the training daily to attend the programme.

Time: 9am to 3pm on nominated days

HOW TO MAKE AN ONLINE REFERRAL
For any of the above programmes, please complete an online referral form. Referral applications will be responded to within 72 hours of receipt of the referral (excluding over the holiday period and statutory holidays).
WINZ REFERRALS:
Please note that all WINZ referrals must be made via the SORT referral process by Work and Income directly. Note that Silver Fern MotorSport Charitable Trust services the Huntly, Ngaruawahia and close neighbouring areas only for WINZ referrals under its contract obligations with WINZ. Referrals outside of these localities must be referred to another provider who covers that specific locality.
